Summer Camp in China

The application for 2018 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp is now open.

 

 

The Confucius Institute at Davis School District is proud to offer the 2018 Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for American high school students. This two-week program is structured to enhance understanding between American and Chinese high school students. Through a combination of classroom study and excursions, students will have a unique opportunity to expand their language skills while experiencing China’s rich culture, tradition, and history.

 

The group will arrive in Beijing to attend the camp’s opening activities then travel on to beautiful Harbin!

 

The application deadline is Friday, March 30th

 

Prospective Dates: June 15-30. (Specific agenda will be updated as information becomes available.)

 

Location: Beijing and Harbin.

 

Cost: All costs in China, including room and board, transportation, activities and sightseeing will be covered by Hanban (Headquarters of Confucius Institute in China).

 

Program participants are responsible for:

 

  1. Round trip international airfare (estimated $700 - 1300)

  2. International travel insurance

  3. Visa application fee (estimated $160)

 

Eligibility: High School students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Have American citizenship

  2. Be in grades 9-12 (including graduating seniors and students who will be in 9th grade in the fall of 2018)

  3. Have 6 months to 3 years of Chinese learning experience (non-native speakers of Chinese)

  4. Be healthy and able to travel internationally

 

How to apply: 

 

1. Download, fill out, and submit the application document.

2. Attach teacher recommendation letter.

3. Attach your statement about why you want to participate

4. Attach a copy of your passport's photo page or a copy of your passport application.

5. Save all documents as ONE pdf.

6. Email completed application pdf  to Bonnie Flint by Friday, March 30th.
